About
About
Cauri Charts publishes weekly, monthly and yearly music charts for West Africa.
The name
The cowrie is the shell once used as currency in West Africa: what counts, what has value.
Six countries, and soon all of West Africa
Togo is the pilot country with a Top 20, like Nigeria, the sixth country since 1 October 2026. Benin, Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire and Senegal publish a Top 10, which will grow to 20 once there is enough data. The other West African countries will follow in stages.
Independence
Cauri Charts is a media outlet separate from the Nova Luz label, within the same group. The label's artists carry a badge and follow the same rules as everyone else.
